This past week Markets (S&P500) were down slightly, and are now up just about11% for the year.

Putting it mildly, this past year has been a unique one for retailers. 12 months ago the entire country was shut down and the world was entering the unknown. We have come a long way from there and in the chart below of Redbook Same Store Sales you can see this.

The RedBook Same Store Sales Index is a weekly measure of comparable storesales at chain stores, discounters, and department stores. Redbook tracks week-to-week change, month-to-date change, and year-on-year change with the latterthe most closely watched reading. The report, produced by Redbook Research,offers early indications on ex-auto ex-gas retail sales.

This chart shows a dramatic "V" shape on the right side, a good sign of how fast and how far we have come.
